Day 40 - Day 5 of 6, this work week is dragging on and my throat is super sore! and... no I don't want to go to the hospital. It seems that our students go to the hospital for everything from a fever to a "broken arm" (their version of a "hurt arm"). A trip to the hospital for foreign teachers would consist of a Chinese staff member accompanying us in a taxi to either the local Mudu hospital or the hospital in SIP (Suzhou Industrial Park).
Day 41 - Okay, after consultation with my mother, I am now taking my reserve antibiotics and I am at home sick today.
I got up this morning to send in my day plan. Kate was so awesome and supportive. She took my Block B course and I heard later Patrick took my Block C class (Thanks Kate and Patrick!). I took my antibiotics and slept all day until someone called me around 2:30pm. It was Flora's 24th birhtday party at U.B.C. Cafe (not to be confused with the university). After her party, Flora came by and brought me dinner. We got a phone call from Kate to let us know her boys, Jeff and Greg, were going to set off their firecrackers. There are no rules about fireworks, whatsoever as far as I can tell. Later on Eric joined us and we watched some clips on youku.com. You have to watch the Russell Peters "World Cup" clip, it is so hilarious! We have watched it numerous times and can't get enough of it!
Day 39 - Oh guess what I found on my desk???? A potato masher and nestea! Today is day 4 of a 6 days work week, what a better way to start with presents on my desk (Thanks Raphael!).
