Day 8 - Today was a low key day, for the most part. I spent the morning cleaning and doing laundry. We only have a washing machine, everything has to be hung to dry.

Around 4pm, Leslie, Patrick, and I went to GIANT, a bike store close to E-Mart. I bought a bike, it is red and black with a basket on the front. I feel so sporty! I haven't ridden a bike since I lived in Ontario, and that is a ways back. So far, so good. On our way home, I got to test out my bike lock as we did a little shopping at E-Mart. Our cleaning lady wasn't there, maybe next time.

Leslie and I dropped off our groceries at home and decided to pick up her bike at school. So, I put my helmet on with headlamp and we were off. I biked and she ran. It took us 12 minutes, way faster than my stroll of 39 minutes. Once we arrived at the school we went on a search for her bike. We met some of the teachers from the Chinese program, they spoke a little English, but mostly giggled, we just laughed along with them, not sure why? Probably at our expense, but they were helpful. We found Leslie's bike but the key was missing so her back tire could not rotate because of the bike chain. Luckily we ran into one of the Chinese teachers and wife, that we met earlier. They helped us bring the bike to the guards at the front gate, except they didn't have anything cut it off with. So, they continued out of the gate. We thought they said we were going to the police at the closest intersection, but we went into the little village by the school and a guy welded it off. Everyone is really friendly and they are very curious about us foreigners, we always get a crowd where ever we go.

It is always dinner and a show when we go out... this time minus the food part!
