Boundabout

Finally Boundabout is over! We had finished everything by wednesday. Saturday was a long and tiring day, it began at 8am and finished 11 hours later. Most of the day was spent gathering the parts of the games together, travelling to the venue and then settign all the games up. We did get a slight break to partake in a chinese tradition of eating a pig. yes i do mean exactly what i said. An entire pig that looked like it had been plucked out of its pen a rod stuck up its arse, spit roasted and slapped on the table!! The serving of the pig was equally graceful, a huge meat cleaver was slammed into its spine! but it tasted great, probably the best pork i've ever had.
Sunday was equally long and more work. We left the school at 7am and returned back at 5pm to unload the trucks. We weren't finished to another 2hours later. So a day of constant work with a quick stop for lunch. It was all worth it though as the event was a success and have already raised $700,000 with more expected from sponsorsip and donations. The money will be used to fund outward bound courses for those who can't afford it themselves.
Last week I spent most of the daylight hours after work trying to roll a kayak, still not quite there i get 3/4 of the way up and then fall back in. i'm not giving up yet hopefully within a couple of weeks i shall have it mastered.
On wednesday Acheung took Amy and i out for dim sum. Now this is a chinese meal, it is balls of 'meet' and other things wrapped up in err a slimy substance!! all i can say is it was interesting, leaving both Amy and I feeling slightly sick :S we shall try our best to politely turn down any future invites. Thank fully if we ever get really desperate in the food situation there is a McDonalds and a Pizza Hut in the local town.
Going back in time yet further to last weekend, Amy and I went to the Rockit Festival it was a music festival in Victoria Park. We volunteered so we got free entry, tshirts and crew passes allowing us access to all areas. We did supprisingly little work, movign a gew tables and chairs before the festival started and handing out some leaftlets later in the day, the remainder of the time we spent enjoying the bands. It was a 2 day event at a venue quite a distance from our flat so we decided to sleep in the park (sorry mum im sure you dont want to hear that, but if it makes you feel any better we did call Ben and tell him) we slept on the stage. 'Slept' being used in a very broad sense as it was so cold and in the middle of a busy city we hardly slept at all. I had a brilliant time, there was a big variety of music and havign access to all areas gathered a few autographs.
Thats about all my news for now, I'll keep you posted.
