Yesterday was by far the hottest day so far at 44C and 86% humidity!! and it also happened to be the day that we were working outside almost all day, we were VERY hot and had to carry bottles of water with us all day. When our day finished we went for a swim. We also decided to take a few jumps off the pier which is about 20ft a little more when the tide is out! Amy is going to teach me to dive off it by the end of the year. The sea here is very warm and also very salty which at the moment means we can only spend about an hour in there at a time, but when we get some googles we will no doubt be in there for a few hours.
Last night Matt and Ken took us out for diner, to a place they described as 'a typical local' although techinicaly is not a local as it took about an hour to get there due to traffic and 300m ques for the bus. The restaurant was supprisingly noisy. We all sat round a circular table with a gas burner in the middle, on which is placed a pot of boiling water. The food comes in small dishes of raw meat which you throw into the boiling water and eat when cooked. It was an amusing evening, especially with Ken trying to show us how to use chopsicks! the muscles in my hand are still a bit tender but i'm sure ill get used to that before the year is out.
This morning was err interesting, we sat through a 4 hour long meeting which despite being held in English we still didn't have much of a clue as to what was going on. It seemed to take a long time for each person to make their point. I'm begining to get used to their English and understanding what they are saying is getting easier. The most interesting bit of the meeting was right at the very end when Donald entered with a typhoon warning. They are expecting a direct hit or near miss within the next couple of days so we were all split up to tie down everything that is kept outside and to move everything else indoors. We now wait in egar anticipation of the typhoon and what it brings.
