Where I stayed
We started out today in San Francisco. There are a few annoying things in San Fran which we had to find out the hard way... park with your wheels facing in to the curb as you will get fined! We found this out with a lovely $35 fine which we were not happy with as our parking was otherwise perfect! For the last few days we have been travelling with my old school friend Leonard, who came along to Yosemite along with his friend. We left them this morning after a pancake breakfast and then we set about exploring the city for a couple of hours. We did the usual tourist trail by getting a tram to fishermans wharf (we got on a new tram by mistake but got it for free as we had not change..we smiled sweety!) I didn't really know what to expect from this area but it was good fun. We won spider rings on the slot machines and took photos of Alcratraz but unfortunaty you have to book 5 days ahead to actually look around it so i'll save that for next time. We wondered back up to the car park via china town which is more impressive than Manchesters version!
Our next destination today was Santa Cruz. We are loving the driving around USA and are finding a lot easier than we first thought it would be. Think the sat nav is helping greatly. We only stayed here for about 3 hours, we grabbed a few hours of sun on the beach but by 4pm it had gone a bit cold but i managed to burn my head a bit so the breeze must have been stronger than we thought. We were loving the O'neil shop along the front and managed to get my nice a lovely top (suzanne you will love it, its pink!).
Our sleeping town for tonight is Monterey. From what we have seen so far it seems a lovely quite town, where every one raves about their aquarium, so thats tommorrows adgenda. When we arrived at the hostel the guy on the desk asked if we wanted the bad news and realised our beds we had book have gone to the homeless from the fires around califoornia at the mo. Everyone has been evacuated and some are staying here so i'm up late as we were going to sleep on the sofas for free but its now late and think we have two beds, which we are hopefully getting for free as we have been waiting around all night...so we will see.
I appologise for the lack of photos on flickr but there is no internet connection quick enough to uplode and it takes adges as i have many photos as you would expect. Over the last few previos day, we have been to Yosemite National Park, which is amazing. We stayed at Evergreen lodge in permant tents and it was luxary camping. We managed to see 2 brown bears while we were walking but only got one pic of the cub. We have seen amazing wterfalls and hiked all day long. The previos weeks we were staying in senoma which is wine county and went wine tasting, hired bikes and went canoing down the river and spent the 4th of July watching amazing fireworks.
Its time to go see where i am sleeping tonight but it can not come sooner, i am always tired so much to be done everyday! Hoping to go down the big sur tomorrow but looking unpassable due to the fires! x
