Hi Everyone,

After a very long journey I am now in Mexico, yeah! I am having a great time, there is so much to learn and do and it is very exciting learning about another culture. My body is still adjusting to the time difference and altitude but I am feeling alot better than yesterday.

My arrival into Mexico City was great! I was met by someone who works for the organisation and me and Emma (another volunteer from UK) stayed at their house before traveling to Metepec. They were so friendly and made us feel very welcome.

At the moment I am on an intoduction camp with 27 exchanges from all over the world. It is a chance for us to meet other volunteers and learn about Mexico, the doīs and donīts etc.. I am learnt alot so that is making me feel a lot more confident about being in another country!

On Friday I will be going to my accomodation in Mexico City where I will stay for 11 months. I will be sharing a flat with 4 other people, Emma who is from the UK. Simon from Germany, Patrick from Sweden and another guy from Germany.

The weather is just right, although I had to put my thick jumper on this morning as it was cold. I did not expect to be cold here??? now the sun is out and it is perfect. We have the afternoon off so I have been sitting in the sun reading Harry Potter.

This evening we have an international party where we will be telling others about our culture, food etc:

I have not really had an problems with the language yet as everyone at the camp speaks very good english. Although at times the Mexicans do have difficulty in understanding me. I am sure the language barrier is really going to hit me next week!

Not much other news as I have not really been doing much so far apart from learning about the country and sleeping. I just wanted to say hi!

Be in touch soon,

Gemma x

p.s. I am missing everyone already! but the other exchanges are missing home too so that makes me feel better!
