Buenos tardes chicos y chicas,

I´m back in good ol´ BA. I took that enormously long bus ride and actually really liked it. It was a great way to see the country (specifically the pampas -open range home to all of the gauchos (cowboys) and where all the beef comes from) and I was able to actually sleep the night through since the seats completely reclined. All in all, it´s a great way to travel if you have the time. I saw a dead cow on the side of the road among other things...One small glitch that totally freaked me out at the time was when the bus stopped for a break of some sort. They said something in Spanish that of course I didnt understand and everyone got off. So I got off too and went inside this rest stop to grab a sandwich when out of the corner of my eye I see the bus pulling away. I abandoned the girl taking my order at the counter and raced off after the bus in a full blown panic. All I can imagine is being left alone at this po-dunk rest stop in the middle of nowhere with all of my belongings heading to Buenos Aires without me. The driver saw me and yelled something out in Spanish which led me to believe that they were coming back...I swear, never underestimate body language - it is honestly how I get by here 95% of the time....So, as it turns out, they were just fueling up or something and did return in like 10 minutes. Man, was I sweating that one...

I´m really glad to be back to civilation so to speak....For tonight I´m staying in a really artsy hostel in San Telmo. It´s pretty rustic with really cool artwork all over the place. The people here are really nice as well...it has more of a homey feel than the other hostels I´ve stayed in. I´m typing from a computer in this loft that feels like it´s someone´s apartment. Tomorrow I´m going to get another apartment so I have my own space- I´m shooting for one here in San Telmo. Renting an apartment is actually the same price or cheaper than a hostel, so it´s totally the way to go in my opinion.

I also just found out that an old coworker friend of mine is in Buenos Aires, so hopefully I´ll be able to meet up with her on Saturday. I can´t believe tomorrow is Halloween...I dont anticipate doing anything halloweeny since I dont think it´s really celebrated here. Dress up for me!

OK, I think someone is waiting to use the computer, so I´m outta here....

Cao!

Sweetiepie - Dad & I read your latest entry together. I was gasping in horror at the thought that you were left alone at the rest stop. Dad almost peed his pants laughing and said 'I wish I could have seen that!' We live on different planets. Glad you're back in BA where you're comfortable. xoxo M
