Hola yáll....
I did something to my ankle and I have no idea when! I went running 2xs and hiking today and itīs now swollen up. This city girl isnt used to this outdoorsy country living.....This hostel doesnt have any ice either! Iīll have to just settle for elevation and ibuprofin. UUUUGH.....Today I took a bus out to this beatiful hiking area. When I got to to the top of this lookout area I can honestly say it took my breath away. Then on the way back I stopped at this pretty cervasaria- this rustic beer making place. Of course I had a glass of malbec wine....
I still maintain that these people have tudes and I think I know why. Itīs a super touristy area and I am either seen as a dollar sign or an annoyance. They have this beautiful town square with these awesome St. Bernard dogs with barrels around their necks and names like Hector. Soooo funny and cute. Anyway, I snapped a photo and one of the owners nearly bit my head off (no pun intended). Apparently one is supposed to pay for the pleasure of photographing these dogs. I hate that stupid touristy crap. The girl at my local cafe is a sweetheart - but thatīs it!! See, once I get a bitter taste I think it colors the way I view everything. Iīve gotten similar sour tastes in San Diego and Madrid - two supposedly lovely cities that I canīt stand. I wonīt say I put Bariloche in this category because of its sheer physical beauty and fantastic food...but itīs not my top place. Also, rumour has it that Iīm staying in kind of a hostile hostel (he he he)- they have all of these rules here that are apparently a bit rigid. I do love my room though....So, itīs kind of a mixed bag here in Bariloche.
Well, Iīm off to a parilla to take my ankle pain away with a huge steak and another malbec.
BTW- I havenīt mentioned the icecream in Argentina yet. Itīs fantastic. I had a coconut and vanilla cone earlier that was to die for. So, I guess this place isnīt all that bad....
OK - Iīm out!
