We left Rarotonga on the 29th in the morning but crossed over the dateline so when we arrived in Auckland it was Sunday 30th in the morning! Very strange!
We're staying in Ponsonby at the moment in a hostel called the Brown Kiwi, its a huge old building with lots of charm, dodgy antiques and an owner that is very camp and so friendly! The weather is pretty different to The Cook Islands! Its rained on and off everyday since we've been here and there have been some really heavy storms (we managed to get caught in 2 of them when we were in the city!!).
We went to The Auckalnd Art Gallery on Monday (as it was free entry every Monday!) there were some excellent Maori portraits and contemporary art too
We've arranged to rent a car while we're here as it works out cheaper (and less stressful!) than buying then selling one. We pick it up tomorrow so hopefully it won't be too small and Sam will be able to get his knees behind the steering wheel!
We're planning on travelling up north to The Bay of Islands tomorrow and then calling back into Auckland when we travel back down to meet up with our uni friend Danny! (who has been missing in action in New Zealand for nearly 2 years!)

Yesterday afternoon we went to the Sky Tower, the lift had a glass bottom in it so you can see how hi you are going (Mum/Ann you would have hated it!). At the top they also has glass sections in the floor so you could see down, was very freaky! The views from the top were amazing and thankfully it wasn't raining so we could see for miles. It was really windy though and when we were at the very top on the Sky Deck it felt as though it was moving in the wind! (Probably our imagination!). We've just checked out of the Brown Kiwi and are off to collect out brum brum. Bay of Islands, here we come!
