We left Hollywood on Sunday night after killing some time at LAX airport which was tiny! Our flight was 9 and a half hours and left at half 11 so including the time difference it was 6am when we landed in Rarotonga! Bleary eyed we stumbled into the airport to be greeted by crazy hula music and the friendliest people!! We didn't get a garland unfortunately but the people from the hostel where there to pick us up in their van.

We got to the hostel with a group of other people (mostly English) who were staying there too. Unfortunately our rooms weren't going to be ready until 11:30 so we had to occupy ourselves for several hours! Luckily everyone was in the same boat so we sat around chatting and getting to know people. The weather was pretty dismal, it was raining and pretty grey so we were a bit worried about our choice of destination! However the second day we woke up to glorious sunshine and not a cloud in the sky!! We sunbathed by the pool and went for a walk on the beach. At the end of the day just as the sun was setting everyone from the hostel made their way to the beach (which is at the end of our garden!) to watch the sun go down into the Pacific. It was so amazing! Then in the evening the hostel had a bbq which pretty much everyone joined in with. It was good fun and we've met some really nice people. We ended up playing poker (suprise suprise!) for a few dollars and Sam was triumphant!!

Wednesday was really sunny in the morning and managed to catch a few rays but it rained again in the afternoon. The weather changes all the time though so its not constant rain like in England! Some of the girls in the hostel had rented out a dvd so we watched that with them in the evening which was really relaxing, felt like being at uni again!

Today (Thurs) is really sunny again, but a bit cloudy. We've come into town and managed to find an internet place that has usb ports so we can upload the photos! We're going to an Island Night tonight with the others from the hostel which includes singing and dancing! (Sams hoping he won't have to get up and dance!) so we're really looking forward to that! Tomorrow is our last night at Rarotonga Backpackers then we are moving to Aremango which other people have said is really nice so we're looking forward to that too! We'll hopefully write again and post more photos after we've moved!

We've been in our new place for 2 nights and its so nice! The owner is really young and she's so friendly (she reminds us of Carrie!). Its quite a bit quieter there but the beach is much nicer and our room is so much bigger. And the whole place has just been refurbished so everything is shiny and new! We've just been chilling out on the beach mostly as we spent quite a bit of money in America so are trying to cut back now! We haven't got any pets in this place unfortunately and we're missing marmalade the cat! We've added some new photo's, including ones of island night which was so much fun! They got people up to dance towards the end, luckily we weren't picked but Amie, one of the girls from our hostel, was and was really embarassed!

Today is our last day in Rarotonga! Its Friday and our plane leaves at 4am Saturday morning, so not going to get much sleep tonight. The weather has been so hot up until yesterday when it rained all day long. Which was probably a good thing as we were both rather sunburnt! We took the kayak from the hostel out on Wednesday and went across to the other islands, it was so much fun! We also took the snorkels and got to see lots of random colouful fish! Unfortunatley we were having a bit too much fun and didn't put anymore suncream on, hence the sunburn!
Our flight in on Saturday morning is only 5 hours but because we cross the date line we won't actually arrive until 8:30 on Sunday morning! The girls we met in othe other hostel have already done this journey and said they felt very strange and hungover so looking forward to that!!
