Saying goodbye to our yurt palace we went to Wellington and after a whistlestop tour we caught the ferry to Picton on the south island. Straight away there seemed to be a difference in the scenery to the North Island, a bit like the rugged coast of Cornwall. Once again we'd left it until the last minute to book a hostel so after ringing every hostel in Picton, Nelson and Blenheim they all told us there was no room at the inn. So we had to travel 3 hours north to Mouteka which was the closest place with a bed for the night. There wasn't really much happening there, the most exciting thing was that we got to stay in a lego house! (no photo's we're afraid!)
