Sat 16th Feb
We're staying in a funny hostel in Taupo, the first night we were in the equivalent of the garden shed and had to listen to the terrible music of the girls sitting outside in the garden (think james blunt, westlife, craaaaaig david etc!)
The woman who runs the hostel is really nice and booked me (Gem) in for my SKYDIVE on Sun. Taupo is such a nice town, the lake is huge and looks more like the ocean.
Sun 17th Feb
The big day! We drove to the skydive place which was only 5mins away from the hostel and had a chat about what was going to happen. I got suited up (check out the really attractive photos!) and then it was onto the plane with the two other victims and our "tandem masters"! We had people videoing and taking photos the whole way which was pretty cool (and I had photographer Sam on the ground!) The other two people jumped at 12,000ft but for some reason i'd decided to go the whole hog and jump from 15,000. It was the most amazing feeling, somersaulting through the clouds, I had absolutely no idea which way was up and which was down, and it was freezing! But once he pulled the parachute it was even more unbelievable. We were floating down so slowly and the views were stunning across the whole of New Zealand and especially Taupo lake. I've definately got the bug and want to do it again! :-)
