Thurs 7th Feb

After travelling for 2 days solid we arrived in Fiji to very humid conditions when we stepped off the plane! As soon as we got outside the airport (after a bit of a drama when I (Gem) left my passport in customs by accident! Don't worry mum, i've got it back!!) we could see how beautiful Fiji was. We had to get a 3 hour bus ride from Nadi to the Beachouse, and it was a really hot, sweaty bus rammed with locals & playing Indian (random!) music at full volume! The bus journey was pretty eventful since the roads are full of wild and wandering cows and horses which the bus driver never slowed down for. Instead he just hit the horn and hoped for the best!

When we got to the Beachouse we immediately knew we'd picked a good'un. Its more like a holiday resort than a hostel. We've got our own "garden room" which is basically a beach hut, its so nice. The Beachouse has got a pool, bar, lounge area, pool table and the beach right on the doorstep! Although it's really nice it's pretty surreal as the main communal area was the film set from Celebrity Love Island and you can still see where the camera runs and 2-way mirrors were.

The Beachouse does free breakfast and afternoon tea (which we missed yesterday when our 1hour afternoon snooze turned into a 3 and a half hour sleep!) and they do lunch and dinner which only cost's  a few pounds and is really nice!

We've been relaxing on the beach today, and have been for a dip in the pool! The Beachouse has also got 2 dogs (a golden and a black retriever) who are really sweet and follow guests when they go for a walk on the beach. They are constantly chasing each other and playing in the sea.

Thats all so far, and we don't intend to much more than chilling for the next few days, but we'll keep you updated!

Sat 9th Feb

Today is our last day at the beachouse! :-( We've packed up all our stuff but we aren't going to the airport until tonight so we're just loitering around like a bad smell! Yesterday I (Gem) had an hour long Fijian body massage, it was really relaxing (and less painful than andy's assaults on my muscles!).

Sam's looking forward to getting out of the extreme heat that is fiji and back to the english summer climate of New Zealand. We've got a night sleeping in the airport though because our flight is in the early hours and there isn't any way to get there in the middle of the night.

Bye bye Fiji!
