Not too much to report from today.  I didnīt see the new mum (Jenny) but I was told that she was doing really well and only had really sore arms, and back, which was probably from the positions that she was in during the labour.  The baby is doing well, but it is normal for the people here to take up to a month to decide on a name.
As the weather was glorious, I decided to go into Tena, which is about 20 minutes away on the bus.  It is a lot bigger, with more going on than Archidona, and has a population for about 25,000.  I walked along the riverside walkway and then stopped in a restaurant for a treat.  My Ecuadorian diet seems to be going well because I am eating what the locals eat, which is lots of yuca, rice, broths, vegetables and a little bit of meat.  Consequently after only one week I was craving something sweet, and tasty and a bit of a reminder of home.  Carrot cake with vanilla ice-cream seemed to fit the bill, and thankfully Tena has a few restaurants aimed towards tourists.  I was shocked to see a couple of western people milling about, and then realized that there are good river rapids here and lots of agencies aim their services to them.
