Nelson, an actual town rather than a village! It's a little bit of shock when you come to New Zealand. I think there population is about 6 million, with 5 million of that on the North Island. That means that everything is rather small on the south island, and takes a little getting used to!! But nelson is a bustling little town, with plenty of things to see! We didn't really have very long here (although that seems to be a problem everywhere we go on this trip!) however, we did manage to get a little bit of sightseeing in, and we wandered around the city centre quite happily. We went and visited the cathedral in the centre of town, which looks quite peculiar. It has a big hollow bell tower, and when you get up close the walls look as if the bricks are painted onto the outside-we took some photos, but i'm not sure how well they come out!! We decided it would be best to save our energy here thoug, as we had a tough few days coming up.. but you'll get to read about that soon!! All in all we liked Nelson, and would have stayed here for longer if we could!!
