Feb. 24 - Left the Brisamar at 11:00 AM for Nuevo Vallarta. We arranged for taximan Arturo to drive us. And some folks were going to the San Poncho music fest just down the road so they rode part way and helped defray the cost to us (total 600 pesos). We arrived at around 1:00 PM Vallarta time to discover that we couldn't check in until 4:00. And we were supposed to meet friends in downtown Bucerias at 4:00. So we hung around 'till 3:30 when we were able to get in. Bucerias is only 10 minutes by taxi so all was OK.
There was a fiesta of sorts in Bucerias to raise money for some cause. The feature was to buy tickets and trade them in for dishes prepared by the local restaurants. Sort of like "A Taste of Edmonton". So we pigged out with our friends Joe and Barb Gandza then went to their place for a nightcap and taxi home.
Feb. 25 - Today is the day we have to go to the timeshare presentation
Feb 26 - Merilynn is a little better today. We went down to the Internet at least and had lunch at the beach bar (almost $20 CAD for 1 hamburger and 2 cokes). In the afternoon she stayed in the room and I went for a long walk - all the way to Paradise Village which is a little shopping mall. The Flamingos is a gorgeous resort but is in the middle of nowhere. No outside place to eat, no nearby bar or mini-super. Nada. There is lots of construction going on but still lots of land available, too. I caught the bus back from Paradise Village for 8 pesos.
Late afternoon Merilynn felt like going for a walk so we walked down the beach for a ways and back
Feb. 27 / Going home day. Merilynn is still not well but will soldier on. We're due home at 1:30 AM Feb 28 Edmonton time.
We arrived Toronto on time but sat on the tarmac for 20 minutes for some reason. This narrowed the time we had to catch our connecting flight to Edmonton. I had bought 3 bottles of tequila in PV airport. Brought it on the plane no problem. After going through customs in Toronto, we had to deposit our bags on the "connecting flight" belt to Edmonton. Then we had to go through Security again to get to our proper gate. Guess what? You can't take liquid on a flight when entering from a point with public access. What I should have done was repack everything after going through customs and put the tequila in the suitcase and clothes in my carry-on. Noone told me. By this time we had 15 minutes to make our flight so I left the tequila with Security. Damn.
Then Air Canada decided that there was something wrong with our plane to Edmonton and we'd be delayed. So I went back to Security, retrieved my tequila, packed it in my carry-on backpack, took it up to Air Canada and checked it through. It cost $35 for being the 3rd checked bag. We took off nearly 2 hours later than scheduled.
Cecil picked us up at the airport in cold old Edmonton (-15C). Air Canada lost 2 of our bags - the one containing the tequila was delivered in the afternoon. The other one is still missing.
Mar 2 - Last lost bag delivered 9:30 tonight.

. Merilynn is feeling lousy. She has a cough and a fever and just wants to sleep. But part of the agreement is that we have to sit through a presentation. So we did but I think it helped that she coughed all over the presenter -Gareth, a nice chap from South Africa. ( I asked him if his mother knew he sold timeshare for a living. Turns out he had sold a package to his folks.) Merilynn was obviously not well so towards the end Gareth went and got a "nurse"- Elizabeth (Nurse Betty). She checked Merilynn out and gave her the name of medicine to buy. Then she tried to close the timeshare deal! They have no conscience. Merilynn went to the room and slept all afternoon. We watched the Academy Awards that night.Feb 26 - Merilynn is a little better today. We went down to the Internet at least and had lunch at the beach bar (almost $20 CAD for 1 hamburger and 2 cokes).
