Dec. 31 - Left Edm. 1:00 AM (sch. 12:30) arr. Toronto 6:30.  I asked for and got bumped up to Business Class because Merilynn was there.  Lots of room in BC but otherwise flight was full.  Bigger seats made sleeping a bit better.  Breakfast at Pearson Airport was basically inedible but filling.  Discovered that TO duty free does not stock Lamb´s Navy.  What a backwards people.  Left TO late for Puerto Vallarta.  Tried to get bumped up to Business Class but got a lecture on how I could´ve paid a premium for Business Class.  On an A320, it is NOT worth it.  5.5 hour flight OK even had a good meal!  Seat I was assigned I could not see the movie very well - The Illusionist.  Next movie - Little Miss Sunshine - I could see better and it was a cute show.
Arrived PV 3:30 PM their time (2:30 EDM time), taxi to Villa del Palmar where Dave Olson was waiting for us at the front door.  Dave brought me some Lamb´s from Edm  duty free, God Bless him.  Dave and Val made reservations for New Year´s dinner at The 3 Dolphins restaurant along with his son David and 2 friends of David´s - Kevin and Amanda.  They are all staying at the Villa del Mar, right next door to the del Palmar.  We took the bus only part way there and had to get off and walk the rest (about 2 km) because the main streets were closed off to the traffic.
Dinner was good, the margaritas were better.  The young people went their way and we made our way down to the malecon to see the fireworks.  People everywhere!  We managed to get into a bar (I´ve forgotten the name) where we could have even more margaritas.  The fireworks display was awesome - more like an artillery display.  Around 1:00 AM we headed back, walking.  Very crowded and dark and I fell and ripped open my thumb.  Maybe the margaritas had something to do with it.  ¨My öwn damn fault¨.  We got a taxi about half way home and crashed.
Jan. 1 - Nursed hangovers and commandered a taxi to take us and our 6 bags to Rincon de Guayabitos. 600 pesos (about $60 CAD).  It took about an hour.  Arrived Rincon about 2:30 PM (now Edmonton time) and settled in to the Brisamar.  This is NOT the Ritz.  But the price is right and it´s charming.  Went out for dinner and had a nice meal.  We´re getting to know our fellow inmates and out shopping for housekeeping items.  Lots of Mexicans here as school holiday until Jan. 7.
