After meeting James in BA and spending one night there we headed off to Montevideo in Uruguay. It is worth mentioning the meal we had that night in BA at a little local restaurant called Des Nivel. I had checked it out the time before I was in BA, they serve absolutely massive steaks at quite cheap prices. We had starters (nothing like a good old fashioned blood sausage), steaks, salad, chips and a quite nice bottle of wine. The bill including a good tip was 6quid each. A guess the most amusing thing was when James's steak arrived at the table and the look on his face. The Bife de Chorizo(sirloin steak)filled his plate and was about half an inch thick. He regretted the bread.

Anyway, Uruguay is pretty much just an extra stamp in your passport. We arrived after the 8 hour Coche Cama ride through the night and had a choice between a four star Holiday Inn for US$20 a night or Hotel Klee at $12 a night. Budgets making the decision, we went for the Hotel Klee and regretted the saving later. Even though the Hotel Klee had nothing really wrong with it apart from the rubbish breakfast and the lift shaft that ventilated in to our room it was a bit, well, rubbish.

There were two good things in the Uruguay. One thing that could have happened, but we arrived too late in the day, was play a round of golf. The course was amazing for only US$10 and we could have rented a golf buggie. The other thing actually happened, it was eating in the food market in Montevideo. The food was really top notch and value for money, we ate a nice selection from the menu which seemed to go well together. This food included pork, chorizo sausage, fried cheese, medio medio wine, flan, there is just too much to mention.
