Morning all!  Finally I have arrived. Flight from LHR was pretty good, 10 hours when it was supposed to be much longer!  Pilot must have been on a promise or something!  Bit worried when taxiing out there was a complete power failure but hey ho, off we flew!  4 hours later an urgent tannoy message for a doctor went out.  Hopefully not for the captain but didn't hear any more of that.  Hung around Bangkok for an hour and half with an aussie from the flight over and we managed to scrape together enough dollars for a hot chocolate, why hot chocolate at 23c at 5.30 in the morning I don't know.  After waiting an eternity for the airport shuttle bus to actually leave the airport, I gave up and jumped in a cab with two ausi docs who are over here training.  Oh my god!!!!!  Umm, if you watched top gear last week then that was quite tame!  The roads are a nightmare, there are scooters cutting up coaches cutting up taxis and I didn't know whether to keep my eyes open or shut!  Anyway, finally got to the hotel to find I'm sharing with Shona (who I've been in contact with already).

Went for a wander with a few from the group but came back at 2.30pm to crash out for an hour or so.

Just back from group meal which was nice.  Then went to sit on tiny kids chairs on the side of the crossroads drinking homebrew at 10p a half pint!  No, am not squiffy, just the one for me to help me sleep.

Off to Halong Bay tomorrow for the overnight junk and snorkelling etc.  Might be a cold sea but then its not going to be as cold Weymouth!  Won't be back online until Wednesday late.

First impressions, Vietnam is a crazy place, but I kinda like it!  Apparently the traffic is worse in Ho Chi Min (the old Saigon) so I don't think I'll be running like a chicken, I think I'll be running like a looney!!!  The group is full, only 2 guys, one brit and one kiwi who is travelling with his girlfriend.  I'm not the oldest, Ben the brit is 35 so quite a young bunch really!  Going to be a crazy 7 weeks I think, will be coming home to have a rest!!
