Seeing as the sat nav suggested the trip from Galway to Dublin
would only take about 3 hours and our ferry wasn't until 6pm, we
figured that we had loads of time, so didn't leave until just after 12pm.
We didn't even think it was that much of a problem when
we were delayed by heavy traffic through a couple of the towns en-route.
However, we were slightly more concerned when we spent half an
hour or so driving around Celbridge just outside of Dublin at 4pm
looking for the elusive "Castletown House" (they had moved the
entrance), knowing that we needed dinner and had a half hour drive left
to the ferry terminal (according to the Tom Tom).  We did eventually
find it, and timed our arrival almost perfectly for the next tour, with just
enough time for a quick bowl of soup - or so we thought.  The soup took
longer than expected and they started the tour without us, but we were
allowed to catch up.  Castletown was a very impressive and extensive
manor house.  It made a nice change from all of the Tower Houses we had
seen and visited.  The tour was only supposed to take 40minutes but
it overran by 15 or so, which meant we were going to be cutting it
tight for our check-in at 5:30pm.  The traffic was reasonably kind, and
we reached Dun Laoghaire at almost 5:29pm with literally only moments
to spare.
