2nd Day at Clermont-Ferrand. Coughing the whole night, getting really sick and couldn't sleep from 3-6am. Then we woke at 9ish to take our breakfast- a simple bread and croissant affair. Then we slept till 3pm! Too sick and tired and maybe still jet-lagged and still on Utah time. Reached the Maison De Culture at 4pm. Bought more lozenges. Checked out the Marketplace-1st day of business. Looks more like selling than buying. Got a WIFI account and sat around to clear emails and just surfed for news about Slamdance. Little disappointed of not getting anything eventhough we kinda knew. Big surprise was 'Tijuanna always makes me happy' got the Grand Jury Prize- our good friends of the festival. They didn't look anywhere near the fierce competition and buzz from 'American Fork' or 'Murder Party'. Shows maybe the integrity of the jury of Slamdance. Our dear friends must be extremely happy-their parents hardwork at the festival paid off. Another thing we found out was our Nokia spoof has reached 4K plus hits and many nice comments and encouragements
Creme Brule at Brasserie Du Jardin
. You gotta be thankful for small victories too. Then we met the Objectifs Em and Yuni and SFC's Soo Wei and Julia. Collected our mail from our pigeonhole 508 and there was a nice Taiwanese lady who wrote of nice things about 'HELLo?' after watching yesterday's screenings. Then we ate at a nearby restaurant- Steak for me and a nice juicy chicken thigh for Em- which she didn't allow me to eat coz of my coughing. Creme Bulee for dessert. Then we went to a WIFI spot to gather info on who to send our screeners to. We found almost every festival rep around the world is here. Testimony of the vitality and respectability of this festival. So lucky to be here. Then we went back to the reception. Labelled 7 screeners with a message then dropped it at their pigeon holes. Our last burst of festivals for 'HELLo?'- some who had rejected us before but now with a Clermont badge hopefully they may reconsider. Then we sat around the Salle Hospital, from 10:15pm onwards, which is part of the University waiting for our screening at 11pm. Attendence was maybe 40% or about 100- it's Monday at 11pm. Brief intros were made of the 2 directors present. Met the first Austrian short director- edgy kinda tense guy. The reception was not as good as yesterday's but it's ok for me. 'HELLo?' gets mixed reviews all the time. Bought some hotdog and Nutella crepe. Took the shuttle back to hotel by 12:30. Slept at 1ish. Again there's the feeling that you have to come here to know the lay of the land before you can mount any attempt in winning a prize.
