Spent a few days at the renowned travellers beach hangout of Zipolite , near Puerto Angel on the Oaxaca coast. I had a marvellous "cabana" ramshackle wooden hut on stilts right on the beach. Very basic accomodation (shed and a bed) but a superb location , my own hammock and the perfect place to watch the glorious sunsets. Tasted the best chicken fajitas in the world ever at a little restaurant along the beach , those ones made from the packet or in a "tex-mex" restaurant at home will now forever seem a poor comparison. No sightseeing tales to explain so this will be quite a short blog entry (a relief to all readers no doubt) - I扉e been taking it easy on the beach & lounging in my wonderful hammock . Unfortunately its not safe to swim at Zipolite due to the strong currents and riptides which apparently drown people every year and warrants red flags on the beach. The other downside to being by the water is for the first and no doubt not the last time on my trip I扉e been eaten alive by mozzies. Despite my best efforts with repellent, mozzie net & long trousers at night they are having a massive munch on my foreign white flesh and my legs are covered in bites. I just bang on the antihistamine stuff , keep popping the malaria pills and hope for the best. The American guy in the cabana next door is 76 years old and spends half his year travelling around Mexico & places in Central America , I thought I would be one of the older travellers myself but I have met people of all ages and this guy was the fourth person I扉e met in their 70愀. Alas photos are temporarily suspended as I have managed to lose my memory card reader , will try to find another one later but no chance in these small beach resorts.
