Well my travels have now taken me now over to the Eastern side of Thailand to the island of Ko Samui.

Was sad to say goodbye to Ko Phi Phi on Monday, really enjoyed my stay there and will defiantly return one day. Took the morning ferry across to the mainland to the town of Krabi and then a short flight across the other side of the Thailand peninsular to Samui.

The minibus ride from the quaint airport took me through the main strip of bars, shops and hotels alongside of Chaweng Beach. It was quickly apparent that this section of coast had completely given its self up for tourism; it was very tacky and catering for the mass package holiday crowd.

The next day I was able to explore Chaweng Beach, which is the biggest, and best stretch of sand on the island. The whole beach is very stunning and beautiful and a far cry to the tackiness found road side, lovely white sand beaches and clear warm seas.

After exploring the local beach yesterday I decided to go further afield today and rent a scooter, rental is very cheap 3 for 125 machine. Had a lovely ride today around the southern and half way up the Western section of the island taking in the beaches of Lamai, Thong Krut and Taling Ngam. These beaches are much quieter than Chaweng and I was able to find stretches of beach all to myself.

Just one more full day on Samui tomorrow then I will be embarking on my final stretch of my SE Asia tour, travelling down to Malaysia to Penang then finally making my way down to Singapore which is my final destination before heading down to Australia. I cant believe I have now been away for over 6 weeks, time has flown by.

The weather once again has been amazing, haven't really had one bad day so far, so have been very lucky.

My Nieces Nat, Becky with Dan and baby Riley are heading off from the UK in the next couple of days to Australia, wishing them happy flighting and looking forward to meeting up with everyone very soon down under for a special Baker family Christmas !
