Well always wanted to see this place, had seen so many pictures of it and wanted to experience it for myself so booked up a boat tour to the bay. Our boat of 12 set off at 8 am, the weather could not have been better, amazing sunny day, not too hot with a nice breeze.

The bay itself is a  designated world heritage site spread across some 600 sq miles area with more than 2000 pinnacle shaped limestone outcrops scattered across it and it really is a sight to behold ! It's quite surreal sailing through the vast jagged outcrops of stone and is almost mythical in appearance.

The tour took us to so called Monkey Island, but we didn't see any and just as well from what we have heard they don't take kindly to tourists and attacks have been known !.

Our next stop was the vast caves of Hang Sung Sot, the largest caves I have ever seen and very spectacular. The caves them self are set in an amazing beautiful bay.

There then followed a very nice lunch on the boat with refreshments before stopping off on the way back for some kyacking and swimming adjacent to the outcrops.

Got back just in time to see the sun set over Cat Ba bay, a very magical day was had :-)
