Day of sightseeing today in the old city of Bangkok.

As I walked into town the shop keepers were busy reinforcing the flood protection in front of their shops, some building higher ones on top of existing ones, news has hit that the flood waters will hit a new high tonight at high tide and no one really knows what is going to happen !.

The Grand Palace was breathtaking, some of the most magnificent temples I have seen, Wat Phra Kaeo the highlight with the emerald buddha. After a few hrs there I headed off to Wat Pho via a river walk to spot Wat Arun across the water. Highlight at Wat Pho was the enormous reclining buddha.

Took a very swift Tuk Tuk ride to Khao San Road, HQ of the backpacking scene and had some very nice Thai street food washed down with a few beers.

Back at the hotel now awaiting the encroaching floods !
