There's an island that the hostel's been advertising called Great Keppel Island and there's a YHA there. I grab the bus which fortunately passes by the hostel in 20 minutes and I'm on my way.
It really is beautiful here and this being winter in Australia (still 35 degrees!) there's not many people here. I spend the afternoon snorkelling on a deserted beach, watched an incredible sunset and then reading until the electricity is turned off at 9pm. That was yesterday, so today I woke up and decided to head north to Airlie Beach. Not really knowing what I'm doing, I get on a bus to the nearest big town only to discover that to get to Airlie I have to go south again to Rockhampton and catch a Greyhound from there.
It's back to Rocky! More thumbnails ...
