Entry 29 of 33 | show all | print this entry

Hello all from Dunhuang, Gansu Province, China - right in the desert I might add.  We've been here exploring around for the last 2 days and have visited many really historically awesome places including the Mogao Buddhist caves dating back to the northern Wei dynasty, Tang and Song dynasties, the old ruins of the Han great wall, Yumen Guan, and the Western Thousand Buddha Caves (Xi Qian Fo Dong) from the Tang dynasty.  Eventhough these places are swamped with chinese tourists, they are still pretty cool to see. wealso spent yesterday afternoon at the Mingsha Shan sand dunes riding camels and racing down giant sand dunes.
Tomorrow we are all taking the train together to Yinchuan, the capital of Ningxia Huizu Autonomous Region and Kevin willleave us there for Shanghai.  The other four of us are headed off course, northwest to Mongolia.  will update later
-matt
