Where I stayed
Once again it's taken awhile for an update, I have my reasons. Mostly, I'm lazy.
We did our trip in a reverse way, usually you'd start in London and work your way around, we stayed in London for maybe a day before heading up to Scotland to see my relatives. It was a beautiful country but the weather was horrid. Our first night in Edinburgh the downpour was atrocious. I got so drenched I thought I was drowning! London was stereotypical London. Making our entire trip to the UK three weeks of downpour, and silly me with no waterproof clothes. Thank God for 1 pound umbrellas.
Most of the People we meet in Scotland were my family, who are dispersed through the various pictures. Thank you so much for all your hospitality, come visit me in Australia! The Scottish people as a whole were a nice bunch of cobbers. The only real downside was at times it was a little on the tough side to understand some of the very strong accents. Not to worry, after a few Scottish pints it all makes sense (you could also readily drink Fosters, if one was so devoid of taste).
We did a lot of cool stuff in Scotland. Everything can be banded into 4 categories which often overlapped, meeting relatives, drinking, castling and golfing. Castling is the act of visiting Scottish castles, of which there were many. We had intended to do some fishing, but it was so far to go to decent fishing grounds. I must also mention the cultural broadening we undertook when we went to Edinburgh arts festival. Essentially hundreds of stage shows and plays spread all around the city for a month. Sure we could have seen Macbeth, but we choose to see "Cannibal: the Musical", based on the movie of the same name. Yeh, it was awesome. One of the few days when the rain abaited and the sun was trying its best to shine, we managed to fit in a quick round of 18. This included a practice session at Saint Andrews, a spirtual experience for an avid golfer and just a plain nice day out for me. I dont keep score though, it's against my religion.
The Not So Fun:
Cold, wet and dreary. I guess it was the authentic experience. Besides that no much else.
