Today we went kayaking and snorkling on the reefs at Kailua, an awesome day out however it seems that golbal warming is taking its toll on Hawaii's reefs (as we learnt from the IMAX movie about it!)
. The more inland reefs seem dead and dying with alot of bleached coral and low fish populations. Apparently the reef is far healthier futher out but we were warned it was difficult to paddle out that far due to the strong currents in the more open ocean. There are a fair few pics I have to upload now but this computer doesnt like the camera. I'm getting sick of using share computers already. I'm thinking I should just go to circuit city and buy a 400 dollar laptop... did I mention stuff is sooo cheap here.
Ill update again tomorrow after we get back from Pearl Harbor. Hopefully Ben Affleck is there so we can tell him he was so much more awesome before he sold out (and never work with Micheal Bay).
We've spent the last two days traversing Oahu. Its a much larger island than you would imagine. The Polynesian Culture Centre near the North Shore is a good hour and half from Waikiki, where we are staying. The trip was well worth it however has the culture centre was an awesome experience. It's a place designed to educate people about the various Polynesian Cultures, including New Zealand (it was funny flying 9000 k's to watch a "tourist" version of the Haaka). What made it more awesome was almost all the performers were from the school that the centre is built next too. By working as actors at the centre they get their tuition and board paid for by BYU-Hawaii. Alot the students were very talented in what they did and had some really awesome stories to tell about how the ended up working at the centre.
