Sam: Lazy very very lazy, the last couple of days have been. We are staying in a beautiful luxurious resort which includes palm trees, a bar in the pool and 30 C heat. We are right on the beach you can hear the waves crashing while you fall asleep its all very romantic apart from Toad boy only went and got food poisioning (not romantic at all, im telling you!). We think its from some prawns on the first night. We both ate the same but i think nursing has given me an immune system of an ox. So i have been Giles private nurse, i made him stay in the room out of the sun while i brought him water and plain rice (the only thing he could stomach) poor monkey. In a strange way it made me miss my job... just a little. Toad boy is now officially on the mend after lots of rest. He is still really pale though while im getting there on a bronzed glow. Only got burnt once on my knees! Not as bad as ive been before, dont worry! There is nothing to do here at all. So we are confined to our luxury resort where my activities have consisted of eating, sunbathing and drinking. There is always alcohol to pass the time! Its been a lovely little retreat. We've found out that travelling in Vietnam is quite tricky, which would explain the plentiful 'tourist centres' you can only really travel around through one of these rather than in china and just jumping on a train. We are just off to book our next stop to Dalat, leaving on saturday. xxx

Giles:  Mum don't panic about the food poisoning, it wasn't anythign like you're imagining!  All is fine now with Nurse Bonito watching over me, restricting my diet to water and rice (something I bet she would like to do the entire time to lose my belly, only now she has a reason to do so!  Even then, I would lose the name toad boy...)  Still had a lazy few days so far, sun and alcohol and food and water and sleep all thrown together.  Lost my chain of thought now, just had two consecutive powercuts which are annoying as hell.  Thankfully this travel blog site autosaves every ten seconds.  Had a few powercuts now, not lasting more than a few seconds each time, but the more rural we get the more often this will happen.  Apparently Laos is famous for having this all the time, with hostels and hotels having notices such as "hot water and electricity only from 0800-1200 and 1600-midnight" and even then its cagey.  That'll be a fun few weeks there, so don't hold your breath for a blog update!  Anyway, Vietnam, finding it hard to spend money, even the night before last at dinner I ordered for Sam a vodka and lemonade... got lost in translation as a bottle of vodka and a few limes sliced up with two shot glasses.  Nevermind, didn't take us long to finish it all either.  The bill came... and the vodka was less than a quid!  And officially a bottle of beer is 9000 dong and a bottle of water sits at 10,000.  There be places that exist where beer is indeed cheaper than water.  Off to dinner now, can't wait for my steamed rice and water!  I may have two bowls...

Much love, Gam and Siles xxx
