We have been at sea since we left Bermuda 5 days ago, so there's really not much to report other than....the past few days have been a whirlwind. Shows, eating, trivia, renewing our wedding vows, black and white formal ball. As days at sea go, not just a regular day....but rather eventful 

Our 10th anniversary is coming up soon, and the reason for going on this cruise. We decided to renew our wedding vows aboard the ship. It was that something special Bryan and I were looking for to celebrate our years together. A tour in Dublin just didn't fit the bill...

As weddings or vow renewal ceremonies can only be performed while at sea, we decided to renew our vows on black and white formal evening. It seemed appropriate somehow. The Grand Princess has a wedding chapel called Hearts and Minds, a simple but elegant room. We met with the Wedding Coordinator, Joyce and went over the details. We picked a date and time, Friday April 17th at 6:00 PM.

Friday went by quickly. We showered and readied for the evening...both of us wearing black and white. At 5:30 a bottle of champagne on ice was delivered to our stateroom, along with chocolate-covered strawberries. We went to the chapel and met Joyce. A beautiful bouquet of orchids and white roses was made up for me, an orchird boutinnaire for Bryan. The Captain of the ship, Andrea Poggi, showed up and greeted us. In a quiet ceremony, Captain Poggi, in his beautiful Italian accent, performed the ceremony. Bryan and I renewed our vows, both of us more nervous than we expected....feeling like teenagers again, stumbling over our lines. It was short but sweet, but felt very significant, very meaningful for both of us. As we walked out of the chapel, another couple was waiting to renew their vows also...after 45 years of marriage. It was a busy night!

We went back to our room to find a second bottle of champagne and glasses...and more strawberries. We now had 2 bottles and 4 glasses.

Afterwards we went to the Captains Circle Cocktail Party. It was attended by a few hundred members. We had cocktails and canapés, and met some nice people. They recognized the most traveled Princess passengers...a couple with 1099 days cruising...a doctor and his wife. We met them after the presentation, and they gave us their bottle of champagne that they won because we renewed our vows. How sweet!! We now had 3 bottles of champagne.

We had lots of professional pictures taken ...I don't have a scanner here, so can't download them on my computer until I get back home. They do a really nice job with photos, and we picked a dozen to bring home with us.

Later that evening we went to dinner, and dined on lobster tail and crabcake for me, and filet mignon for Bryan. It was a feast fit for a king!! We then went to the black and white ball, but didn't stay long. We found a quiet party in the Skywalkers Lounge playing romantic music, and had the dance floor to ourselves. As the ship was swaying a lot, as we were at the very top of the ship, we decided to leave and call it a night. The champagne and strawberries were luscious.

One more day at sea...and we arrive in Greenock, Scotland on Monday morning. Everyone is ready...and well rested.
