But lets start from the beginning :-)
Abra to Mamburao, Wed-Dec4th
On Wednesday, I finally managed to leave the friendly Italians from Fisherman's (I think, I could have stayed another month) and after an easy boat ride landed in Abra without any problems, exept that is was noon allready when I could start cycling to Mamburao - It was really hot, even for me (>30 Grad). Fortunately the good paved road leads through a pretty, green valley and is mostly flat.
Mamburao to Sablayan, Thurs-Dec5th
After a sweaty night, I head for Sablayan early, the distance would be 87km, but I don't expect I can cycle all the way. From 7:30 to 10:00 its pleasant (still >28), but after the sun starts to burn down and it gets hot. The scenery is all rice and other vegies or palm trees with mountains to the left and the ocean to the right. Little villages with small shops all along the way, luckily some of them have a working fridge with cold soft drinks.
Around two o'clock I finish cycling and take a bus for the last stretch to Sablayan - 60km are enough. I enjoiy the bus ride with the nice Philippinos, exept the cute little Girl next to me pukes all over me - as you all know, I love Kids...
This time I look for a quiet hotel and check in at the adventure resort which lays directly at the beach and I'm the only guest and get all the service personells attention. Resort = hotel of any kind, no meaning to it (wether location, nor amenities).
Sablayan to Apo Reef Divers near Calintaan, Fri-Dec6th
Today is an easy ride of about 45 km to Calinpaan where I picked the Apo Reef Divers, a Swiss owned resort and dive company, to stay with. Surprisingly, the resort comes even earlier, than I sought. I dont mind, since the road is now unpaved, dusty and bumpy.
Its a nice, quiet place directly at the beach and has a Swimmingpool, too - here I will stay for 2 nights and do my laundry.
Tonight, I'm invited to join the staff Christmas dinner, life is good :-)
My summary of cycling Mindoro so far:
Friendly people who wave and like to help, very little traffic, ok to good roads, West coast quite flat, from noon to 14:30 it is to hot to cycle. No problem to find water, food and a hotel.
But like the Chinese, other vehicles horn when bypassing you - at least you know, they saw you...
