Where I stayed
Hostal La Ruca
It feels nice to be on the road again and travelling, despite sending a few things home my and having bought another suitcase my backpack is still a cumbersome beast.
So everyone adds "po" onto the end of their sentences. "Si po", "No po" "Ya po", "ciao Po". Its slightly annoying and overly used po. So the guide book lied to us about Hostal La Ruca, we stayed there one night but have left to another one. The woman who owns the new one, is rather....teacher esque. We went last night to look around it and reserve it and the woman was really nice until the end, and she said... " I know where you are staying, If you donīt turn up tomorrow i will call La Ruca".
Today we got up at 3.ooam to see Geysers. Two hour bus journey to Tatio and then breaky. (I was rather hoping they were going to cook an egg on the hot springs, like you see on TV...but they didnt) 4000metres above sea level, and It was quite exciting, i felt quite breathless and lightheaded. There was Coco leaves on offer, but after trying Katíes coca tea and tasting the rather vile fishy taste i was put off. oh it was freezing, -8oC. And neither of us had jackets. I put all travellers gear into action today, i wore my waterproof passport holder,(with both passports inside) money belt round my waist, zaptag and had tickets in my bag and water and pod. SO glad i donīt have the travellers boots that are basically like backpacks but shoes, loads of unnessessary tassles and straps and "designs". My silver nikes are way better.
So chile loves the windpipes. Everywhere we go they are playing, either in the backround on the radio, or Live like last night. The long haired native had both guitar and windpipes and kept popping his head up and down behind the pipes whilst playing very eagerly. His friend had one of those tincy guitars that are almost more for decoration and look like a two year old should play, they both got really into it, singing around the fire. In puerto Varas they even had a CD of other songs covered by windpipe music, like Beauty and the Beast and "yesterday...all my troubles were so far away", all in windpipes. !!!
So the geysers were pretty awesome, and the hot pools warmed us up.
Tomorrow we are going star gazing, the stars are meant to be amazing here and then to Moon Valley and Death Valley. Horse riding, you know the usual Thursday activities.
Love to you all po
OH PS DAD we had bbqued Llama, It was delicious. Like Kebabs and they put the marinade (sP?) over it with Corriander, using the bunch of corriander like a brush.
