I haven't left Auckland much lately, but have been enjoying all the things to do in and around Auckland. Although it's winter, the days tend to be sunny and fairly warm so it's still great to go walking round the bays, and climbing up the collection of local volcanoes. Occasionally Rick has persuaded me to venture out to Woodhill, which has a multitude of mountain bike tracks. There are also many scary looking jumps (luckily with by-passes to avoid them!)
Last weekend Rick and I visited Devonport by ferry. On Auckland's North Shore, this feels more like a village than part of a major city. We wandered along the shore, visited some of the galleries and gift shops, and Rick managed to drag me out of the fantastic second hand bookshop.... eventually. We had a very late lunch at a South American restaurant we found down a side street- cerviche and pisco sours, just like being back in Peru but without the dodgy stomach. Afterwards we headed back to the city for a friend's birthday party- a typical Saturday night of beer, good food and rugby.
