When I arrived in Nelson it was overcast. Sunniest place in New Zealand, huh?
In my hostel I ran into Nikita, one of the Dutch girls from before, and we decided to do the Abel Tasman Coastal walk together. We recruited a third quickly, and decided to meet up with two others once on the track.
The hostel I wound up staying at was "The Paradiso". The Paradiso was a pretty happening place with a sauna, hot-tub (that was cold), a swimming pool, a volleyball court, a "party bus" and some pretty sweet atmosphere (though the bathrooms were kind of sketchy).
The second night at the Paradiso was a "fancy dress" party themed "what the hell". The idea was that anyone who saw us would say "what the hell?". I got dressed up in a loincloth made from a towel and my ever-famous fuzzy hat. The party migrated to a local Pub where I got some cat-calls from some of the older ladies in the bar.
On to Motueka and then the Abel Tasman!
