I had originally planned to spend a week in Wellington, but I am feeling a bit pinched for time, so I elected for a few days less.

The few days I elected to spend in Wellinton happened to coincide with a cricket test-match. The result was me having to stay in 3 different hostels over the period of my stay, even having booked these almost a week in advance. I don't understand how people can watch one game for an entire day, let alone 3 or 5.

I ran into a couple of Dutch girls I had met previously, and found that they have a connection to my Dutch comrades, Jaimey and Camiel. Lesson for the day; all Dutch people know each other.

Wellington is the cultural centre of New Zealand. It has it all; shows, music, night-life, drunks, dirty hippies, bums, drugs and charm.

I had one or two nights out, but kept it pretty tame otherwise. I caught a late-night high-wire show, watched the dragon-boats, took a cable-car to the botanical gardens, took in the art gallery (and re-affirmed my suspicions that you must be on the same drugs as the artist to understand their "art") and went to the national museum a couple of times.
