Get on the bus, Gus.

The original version. The radio, the only entertainment, is on AM. The Swiss couple can't find any other station and I'm not sure if they are aware of FM. I'm either too lazy or too anti-social to help.

The cottage is an old farmhouse-made-backpackers. Set on a farm away from pretty much everything but sheep. The doors all have their original fixtures, and a gap underneath that would make a good access for a shrew. But the place is clean, quiet and full of character.

I stopped here last night because I wanted to try out the hot springs and check out the Mahia Peninsula. The owner look at me oddly, like he didn't trust me. Or like I shouldn't trust him. I think there is something in the water around here.

I normally like small places, but last night was an exception. I'm sure the place would have won my highest honors in another situation, but it's not another situation. It's raining. I feel like ass, and I'm the only one here. That's not true; there was a Swiss couple here, but they were weird and I didn't feel like wrestling with their English.

It's 0930 and I am now alone. Breakfast is a couple pieces of dry toast and a cup of tea, no sugar, the same as last night's dinner. No supermarket.

I was almost gone when I realized that my camera was dead and needed charging. So instead of getting breakfast at the local cafe in town, I'm eating my last two slices of dry toast. Waiting for my camera to charge.
