I've been on the road for one year now, but it doesn't feel as "landmark" as I was expecting for some reason.
The disconnected power line flopping around outside reminds me that I have no health insurance now. It lapsed yesterday. I was planning to sign up with World Nomads, but they require that my BC health insurance be current and valid, which it isn't. Apparently most travel insurance providers require that you are insured at home. So for anyone planning an extended trip, don't cancel your provincial health insurance when you travel.
I think my flight has left. I originally thought it was on the 7th, but the more I think about it, it was probably on the 5th. So I am now without a net. No health and no way to get back home. Kind of out of my comfort zone a bit, but I guess it's something that should be pushed once and a while.
I almost have enough money for a car. Next fortnight, really! I've also picked up a cheap laptop for about 500 bucks. Good timing on that, because the company just started blocking websites so I'm going to have to find another way to send and receive emails.
I'm looking forwards to getting a car so I can do some travelling on the weekends. I was actually planning on going to Sydney this weekend, but the rain ruined it for me.
I've started to play volleyball on Thursdays now with a group I met at a Pub. It sounds funny, but they're a good group of people. We're pretty bad, the only game we've won was because of our opponents cancelling due to lack of players. But it's fun and keeps me active and involved.
I've been looking at my photos from the past year that I've been organising on my computer and it's been bringing back some good memories. I'm glad I got to travel and meet the people that I have met.
