Bali – Sanure - 12th to 15th Jan 2011
We made it to Sanure in our trusty jeep and had a drive around to find some accommodation which was an excellent alternative to hauling our rucksacks about. However, this was the first time we struggled finding somewhere, every place was booked up! How rude! So after a while we gave up and decided to take a trip down to the Bukit which is the lower part of Bali known for its beautiful beaches and amazing surf. We found a huge 5 star complex in Nusa Dua which lined the coast and the beaches were to die for! We were so glad we found it, but gutted Mum and Dad didn’t get to see it too
Eventually we made our way back to Sanure and managed to find a little Guest house called Luisa! That was lucky! A little old, skinny lady who sounded like she had had a container full of cigarettes and was now imitating Darth Vader (not sure of spelling) showed us to our room in her night dress! We went for a walk and found an Aussie ex pac bar, so we had a few beers and got chatting with the Aussie’s – mainly about the flooding on the east coast of Australia – right
where we were due to be heading! Yikes! So we had a bite to eat and a few more drinks and had an early night.
In the morning we headed down to the harbor to catch the boat over to one of the islands but unfortunately we had missed the slow boat and couldn’t afford the fast boat so we went back down to the beach and Nusa Dua and relaxed! That night we went back out for something to eat again. We were so hungry and VERY disappointed when our meals came out and were the size of a starter! So we gobbled it all up and our belly’s led the way back to the Aussie Bar we were in the previous night and we got something extra to eat
Whilst we were in Sanure if felt quite familiar even though we had never been before, but after being in the aussie bar we slowly realised it was because it was almost identical to Spain. There were so many ex pacs from Aus and as always the Germans were there. Pretty bizarre really.
Next day, we checked out and set off in the car to go back to Ubud to take the car back. On the way, we decided to stop off at the Bali Wildlife and Marine Park. It was quite expensive to get in but it was our last day in Bali so we decided to splash out. We were really glad we did because we got to see loads of different wildlife, and it was in the form of a safari so all the animals were outside in quite natural habitats. We saw a leopard sleeping in the trees, crocs, white tigers, elephants and loads more. Plus we got to hold a baby orangutan! It was so cute!
We got back to Ubud, stayed the night in a really nice guest house belonging to a nice family with a huge room and beautiful decorations. We got the taxi transfer in the morning to the airport! Again we were nice and early - because mark likes to be – but once again it paid off, because they had made our flight earlier and not informed us! Charming!
So wewaited in the airport ready for our mammoth trip to Australia, stopping off at Singapore for our connection.
So see you in Australia!!
