On Saturday afternoon Brenda and I were outside the downtown Methodist Church trying to see if there would be an English service on Sunday.  I started talking with a woman standing by the curb who explained that the only English services were at Methodist Church a few kilometers away at 7:30 a.m.  She offered to pick us up at our hotel for the service.

On Sunday we found ourselves adopted for the day by Christina and Yek and their three children.  We attended the service @ Wesley Methodist Church -- at least half of the service was singing hymns.  After the service we met many people including Sister Grace who is now working with schools in Sibu to implement a brand-new syllabus (state-mandated curriculum).  Same job as I had, updated syllabus.

Christina, Yek, and a friend took us to a coffee shop in Sungai Merah for breakfast -- laksa and copi for me.   We walked around the Sungai Merah Heritage Walk, a garden and walking trail which commemorates the first settlement of Chinese in Sibu.  Christina & Yek then took us on a tour of parts of Sibu that we had not yet seen including beautiful parks, the schools where they both teach, and the museum at the World Headquarters of the FooChow Association.

After a final walk around Sibutown and checking out of our hotel, Christina picked us up to visit their home.  We looked around, visited, and tried out delicious nuts, candies, and fruits in honor of the last day of Chinese New Year. A final drive to the airport, a short plane ride, and back to Kuching for fireworks and Chinese celebrations.
