Breakfast is included in the hotel, handy! But... I put some bread in the toaster and in meanwhile tried to get some milk but the tap was blocked so it went very slow, the toast started to burn and the whole place was full of smoke, oepsie.
Sat with a girl from New jersey, she definately advises me to go to buenos aires, she has been and is going back at the end of her stay. The English girls in my room were off to Florianopolis and are also going to buenos aires twice.. Must be good :-)
Got lunch round the corner, checked out coz i have to change room and got a bus back into brazil!
Stopped at the border for stamps exiting argetina, tried the Mate drink from the customs guy. Weird :-). I guess its not illegal as it was crawling with police there. Didnt taste very nice, a bit like a camomil and green tea that had been in the water too long and gone bitter.
Gave passport to enter brazil, more stamps!
When you arrive at the national park you have no idea there is anything spectacular to see. You still have to take another bus for 10min before you can hear anything. But when you turn round the corner: Goosebumps!! The photos look spectacular, but nothing like the real thing, the pounding of the water, and getting wet from the water smashing back up and being blown over by the wind. Walked along a hanging trail, which was nice, in the forest, but no falls to see - you could hear them tho!
Went along the Trilha das Cataratas, felt like it was raining super fine drops, lots of them, like a refreshing water nivellator from vichy, but not in the kind of temperature you would want to use it. It was the water smashing up and being brought over by the wind, the people were getting soaked!
The noise was deafening and there were loads of big birds!
Most people had disposable rainjackets on, but
there were many ppl with very little clothes on also! Even some with no shoes. They were shivering and soaked, poor guys.
Went back to the entrance and visited the bird park up the road, it was really cool. Had tucans flying up to me, and went into a cage full of hummingbirds!!!!! And much more. Very nice.
Got the bus back to puerto iguacu and met some irish and germans on the way. Friendly people, again with very handy tips: platforma 10 is a great way to find cheap and comfortable bus tickets between the many bus companies and you can also book online and pay with visa. Shame my visa still isnt working!!
