Saturday 1st November...
Have just come back to earth with a bump. Spent the last few days at the Amari Watergate Hotel in Bangkok, courtesy of British Airways, with my friend Sally and her parents, as her dad is a captain for BA and was on a Bangkok to Sydney flight. While Don flew to and back from Sydney, us girls stayed in Bangkok to shop! I probably didn't need to do any more shopping but it was too hard to resist especially we went to a couple of secret warehouses which only the BA crew know about! I now have lovely fake, sorry...copy, Prada, Louis Vuitton and Gucci bags and we also found a place where you can actually view your copied DVDs to check they are ok. After a couple of days of shopping Pat and Sally looked like they had enough bags to open up a shop!
I think I've now put on about 20 stone as we had so many nice meals out and a lot of 2 for 1 happy hour drinks!
Last night we went to the Oriental Spa Restaurant, which is over the river from The Oriental Hotel which is apparently the poshest hotel in Bangkok. It definitely looked it, but I was ok cos now I had a Prada bag and DKNY top. Don't worry I haven't turned into a label junkie - the top cost me less than 2 pounds!
Afterwards we went to the Banyan Tree Hotel (which was also very nice, I think I might live there) to Vertigo/The Moon Bar which is the highest al freso restaurant/bar in Asia. (I'm not trying to sound posh there, its just the way they describe it!)
Its on the 61st floor and you get great views over the whole of Bangkok and is so high up you can't even hear any of the traffic. Bloody expensive drinks though!
Anyway I'm back to budget style accommodation now but it was nice while it lasted. Janine left to go to Singapore a week ago so I am on my lonesome again but off to Ko Samet tomorrow for 5 days of topping up my tan and doign nothing before I go back to the sanctuary.
Will be back home 4 weeks on Monday - scary!
