Friday 17th October...

Had a near heart attack yesterday when I realised I'd spent far more money than I thought in Hoi An and filled an entire holdall with clothes.
Also got completely abused by a 10y/o boy last night as he reckoned we'd promised to give him some Cambodian money (which we don't have) and we'd given it to his friend instead. He followed us for about 10 minutes until we went into a cafe and then swore at us and gave us the finger. Nice. Not too upset at leaving Hoi An now since its been constant hassle and got to the point where we can't be polite anymore and want to tell them all to piss off.

Left Hoi An this morning to go to Hue which was scheduled to take 6 hours even though it didn't look that far on the map. We soon found out this was because the bus stopped for food/toilet breaks every half hour so it probably would've taken 2 hours normally.

We were intending to stay in Hue for just one night to break up the journey to Hanoi, but when we arrived we weren't too impressed and theres not a lot to do here apart from wander round the citadel ruins which isn't great when its pouring with rain. Instead we went to a cafe and bought loads of the owners photographs, therefore breaking our "don't let each other spend any more money or we won't be able to afford to eat" rule.
We're also running out of time before we have to get through Laos and back to Bangkok now so we decided to just carry on our journey straight up to Hanoi overnight so will therefore probably be in a foul mood tomorrow having spent 19 hours on a bus with rock hard seats and constant horn beeping.
Still, it should prepare us for our 20-24 hour trip from Hanoi to Vientiane in Laos.
Looking forward to that one...
