Sunday 21st September...
Arrived in Chiang Mai at 6am today having spent yet another 12 hours on a "luxury" bus.
Decided to sit at the back so all 3 of us could sit together which maybe wasnt the best plan as I'm sure it was far bumpier back there than anyone else and none of us could really get comfy or sleep at all so arrived this morning quite grumpy!
Stopped off at mozzie central at about midnight for dinner and literally had to eat and run as me and Janine were getting eaten alive by huge black mosquitos!
Checked into the guest house we were dropped at which is called "Nice Place" although I think maybe they were being sarcastic when they called it that. It looks like it was built (and last decorated) a good few centuries ago and has the most gorgeous decor I've ever seen
But it has a fan and a hot shower (although the bathroom is only separated from the bedroom by a curtain so we're getting to know each other better by the day!) and all for only 150B between us, so less than 1 pound each so you can't really complain for that!
Had a bit of a look round the city this morning which is really pretty, and a nice change from hectic Bangkok. Have booked onto a Thai cooking course tomorrow so no doubt I will make myself ill eating spicy food, then we're doing a 3 day trek in the jungle starting Tuesday where we're meeting up with Luke, Rachel and Sam again so that should be fun.
Will update with photos after jungle trek if I still have use of all my limbs...
(only joking Mum, the trek includes insurance but they take photocopies of your passport just in case...!)
