friday 20th feb:
managed to sleep in really late cos we're lazy. went shopping in chinatown and spent far too much money on lots of cute but not all that useful stuff. ie: i bought stickers and keyrings and notepads etc, renee bought a flip top bin.
oh and she found lots of places selling godzilla toys so she made various shrill sounds of happiness followed by disappointed snivelly noises when she learned the prices.
for some reason she went into girly mode on the way home and decided we should both get manicures, and then the woman persuaded her into getting a pedicure as well.
we didnt really plan the whole time scale too well as ended up having to rush back to the hotel to get ready before we went out that night!
we met my dad's friend and his wife again at another good steak house underneath madison square garden and had another huge meal. renee couldn't eat all her steak but decided she had room for dessert and stuffed her face with strawberry shortcake. i, on the other hand, being a pig, pretty much finished off every course :)
whilst gary & gail went upstairs to a basketball match, we went to see the little shop of horrors on broadway, which he'd bought us tickets for.
it was really good, and had some really funny bits in such as when the big fat russian(?) shop owner dig a little shimmying dance. you have to see it to appreciate it...
and the giant man eating plant was great.

saturday 21st feb:
went out for a fat american breakfast this morning, despite having eaten our bodyweight in food last night, and stuffed ourselves on pancakes, eggs and bacon. well, i didnt eat any eggs naturally because that would be disgusting, but renee did. i just focused on smothering my pancakes with as much maple syrup as possible...
went downtown, as renee had yet to see the depressingness that is ground zero. stayed there briefly until we almost cried and then made our way to see the statue of liberty from battery park as we couldnt be bothered to actually go over to liberty island. too cold, too expensive and i've done it before and it was nothing special.
on the way i managed to somehow buy a couple of webcams, even though my aim was to buy an adapter plug...
went to battery park, squinted to see the tiny statue of liberty in the distance, and that's about it for the day. renee was tired so she went home, while i went to buy trainers which dont exist in my size in any of the 3 shops i tried. i guess i'm just not meant to get those trainers...

i doubt i'll be updating this anymore as we're leaving new york monday morning and i don't know if i can be bothered to go to an internet cafe in florida.
who knows, we'll see...
