tuesday 17th feb:
went to the met to see some arty stuff which was pretty good, apart from the negotiations when we tried to get in. it says the 'suggested' donation is $10 which is a lot, for someone who has no money (well i have money for clothes, but that's courtesy of my credit card...). anyway, the guy wouldn't let us through unless we made a donation so renee ended up paying $5 and I paid $3. cos i'm cheap. its not like they don't make enough money on the food in there anyway - a bottle of water cost $2 and it was the smallest bottle of water i've ever seen.
didn't do a whole lot else that day...we seem to be managing to get up and go out pretty late and then get home by about 4/5 and not do a lot else!

wednesday 18th feb:
ooh another day for doing not a lot...
went back to the camera shop to buy another battery for my new camera in case mine annoyingly ran out half way through taking photos and made me cry. managed to get another sleazy salesmen who said 'tell me, are all english girls so beautiful'...ugh...i said no.
went shopping in st marks place where some guy tried to randomly sell me copied cds on the street corner and some other guy was handing out free pitta bread which i politely delined in case it was drugged...well ok because i'm just suspicious of free stuff.
oh, and i was on my way to get soup. with which you get free bread. so i didn't need it.
had some soup, which is probably the best soup in the world - butternut squash and apple. Binturong (aka bear cat)
Binturong (aka bear cat)
i'm sure lots of people just went eeeeewwwwwwwwwwwww! but don't knock it till you've tried it. or at least smelt it.
i think all this talking rubbish is just me trying to make out i did something with my day, but really i didn't.

oh no wait, we went to the cinema in the evening to see 'along came polly' cos we wanted to see the ferret getting its head banged into stuff. it was actually a pretty funny film. look out for the trailer where ben stiller gets his head slapped up against a fat, hairy, sweaty man's chest. yummy.

thursday 19th feb:
today we made an actual effort to do stuff. although we did wake up late cos i spent most of the night being sick which i attributed to my popcorn.
anyway, today was the day we went to see babies!
not actual babies, cos that would be dull, but animal babies!
we ventured into the bronx to go to the zoo, which is nice and cheap at this time of year, possibly because most of the animals are hiding from the snow.
but we got to see lots of tigers, and one even came right up to the glass to pose for a photo, how thoughtful of her.
there was a tiger named after my brother, but as so often happens with his name, it belonged to a female.
we saw a couple of snow leopards (jealous at all, truls?) but sadly couldn't see the little baby snow leopard called biscuit which was a bit disappointing but nevermind.
also saw many monkeys, sealions, elephants, and other usual things you see at zoos.
spent way too muh money in the gift shop, as predicted, then went home via times square and spent way too much money in a touristy tack shop, also as predicted.
i love my credit card :)
