So it's just me again. In Cape Town. I keep half expecting to bump into the rest of the truck crew and it's sad they're not there but life goes on.
After a hectic first night where I became an honorary member of a group of Irish people and received strict instructions to go to Galway, I spent my last few days just relaxing, trying not to spend the last of my money but failing miserably. I read some books, had some chats and generally just enjoyed doing nothing while I could.
So this is it, for now...
If this trip has taught me anything its that travelling in English speaking Western/developed countries isn't really for me. It's too easy and there aren't enough surprises. It's not comical enough. I don't feel like I'm travelling in these countries, just like I'm on holiday.
The last 4 months in Africa has been the best part of my trip by far. Largely because it's so different to my 'normal' life but partly cos it's been just me. Although I found the truck trip hard at times, not having my own space and being on a constant schedule, on the whole I absolutely loved it. I met some genuine, amazing people who I know will be friends for life.
I'm looking forward to coming home, despite the weather and lack of pumpkins available in the supermarket.
But this definitely won't be my last travelpod.
