After a horrible 12hr bus journey from Melbourne where a fat man actually sat on me in the middle of the night, I arrived back in Sydney. Simon's friends, Mick & Nodlaig had very kindly invited me to stay with them again, despite the fact that I woke them up at 7am on a Sunday.

Now I know another reason why I love Melbourne - the lack of humidity. Sydney's so sticky and its almost (but not quite) making me look forward to the coldness of NZ.

There wasn't really a lot for me left to do in Sydney apart from take a trip to the Blue Mountains. Unfortunately though, I hadn't picked a very good day as it was really overcast and so there was thick fog in the Blue Mountains which meant I saw hardly anything. We went to several lookouts but you couldn't see more than about 20 metres ahead of you Blue Mountains - Where 3 Sisters are meant to be..
Blue Mountains - Where 3 Sisters are meant to be..
. By the time we got to the 3 sisters - a rock formation which is one of the most famous sights there - the fog was still bad, so we saw the bottom of them. But we did get to go on this steep railway ride up the mountain. Backwards. Pretty scary.
It seemed like a bit of a wasted trip, but not much you can do about the weather.

I met up with Kristen from my Kangaroo Island trip in Sydney and we headed out for dinner. I already had a 2 for 1 voucher that Mick & Nodlaig had given me so we only paid $20 for both our meals. But then the waitress came and told Kristen that they'd sold out of her dish so she could choose something else and they refunded her the price of what she'd originally chosen. So we ended up paying only $4 between us.
Her sister was in town on a business conference so we went and checked her into the Radisson.

Wow. Not only was there the usual mini-bar etc, but there was a window between the bathroom and bedroom so that you can watch TV whilst you're in the bath, along with a telephone next to the toilet.

I also met up with Nat to say goodbye. We only managed to see each other a few times but those times will be some of the highlights of my trip. Long live Mr Tumnus!

And so, this is the end of Oz, and the end of my travels for the next couple of months. I'm off to NZ tomorrow to get a job. Wish me luck.
