Sorry today is a long blog. Feel free to skip over any boring bits.
After breaky we went for a walk before it got too hot and ended up walking around the mariner, about 5km with Caron, Hannah and Umy. I was on stroller duty. Thankfully I'm a bit better at the stroller than I am wheelie bags!
When we got back we were pretty hot and tired. So we had a lazy morning of cuddles with Hannah and some U.S. TV.
After lunch we got Hannah weighed, and she's a healthy 9 lb 14 oz, before heading off to Academy, a huge sporting and outdoor store. This is where the US comes into its own
It's not only weird, but it feels naughty looking at guns (I was going to say "in a store," but no, just looking at them!), and we kept feeling like someone was going to catch us. My brain couldn't even make them 'real.' To me they just all looked fake. But just know that if you ever come here you can get a 'Taurus public defender revolver' for the low everyday price of $459.00.
After we walked out giggling, without even buying anything, we came home for a much needed sleep. Caron had to wake us twice so we could get ready for the baseball.
We finally got to meet Colin, Mike's bro, while we had drinks and appetisers before the game at 'The flying saucer' which has a choice of 201 different beers. As you have probably guessed Jeff was like a kid in a "candy store". Imagine any food, now add bright orange cheese or deep fry it, or just do both. Now as many of you know, I don't really do cheese, so bright orange liquid cheese just looks gross. Caron and I had really yummy chicken tenderloins, probably the only thing without cheese.
The baseball was great. We had great seats, right near 1st base. Its very relaxed and it's a whole experience.. and funnily enough not alot about the game.
The roof of the stadium was open, due to the perfect weather, but can close up and the whole stadium is then air conditioned.
Jeff and Mike got foot long hotdogs
They had entertainment after each innings. One was a race between 3 people-sized sauce packets. At the end of the 7th innings everyone got up and danced to 'take me back to the ball game.' The Astros lost, which apparently is not surprising, but no-one seemed to mind.
A great day and we slept well last night.
