Saint Vallier de Thiey to Antibes July 9th

We had a good nights sleep, facing the park rather than the street, it had been very quiet. The shower was really good, great pressure. Nice breakfast, first time we had seen cheese for breakfast.

Had a talk to Anne-Marie who had arrived in Singapore feeling really sick. Graeme got her to a doctor and took care of the kids. She is hoping the meds the doctor gave her will start working soon.

We were soon on our way heading for Antibes. Scenery was still interesting but not compared to the day before. Once past Grasse the traffic got heavy. The GPS was of great help, but even so we did manage to take an exit too soon off a round-about. We decided to head back at the next one, the car in front of us must have made the same mistake, but decided to do a sudden stop in the middle of the round-about to read the map. We came to a sudden stop. Peter was not impressed.

The GPS did try to take us down a couple of one-way streets in the wrong direction, seems the streets had changed recently North of Grasse
North of Grasse
. We soon found the correct house, started to circle the block to find somewhere to park, and to our surprise found a free space. No parking on the footpath for us.

It was wonderful to see Gerda and Jan-Erik again. It is such a lovely apartment on the 5th floor, with balconies at both ends, so there is a lovely breeze through. We started off with a glass or 2 of Champagne and they then made a beautiful Salad Nicosia   which we had with a lovely rose. After that it was time for an afternoon rest.

Around 5pm we walked down to the beach, couldn't believe how many people there were on the beach, absolutely packed. We did manage to find a spot. Jan-Erik thought the sea was a bit cool, between 22 and 24 degrees. I soon got warm enough to want to try it, a bit cool to get in but it soon felt wonderful. We stayed on the beach till about pm, picked up a few things from a shop and went home to have a G&T. Then dinner, Melon with Parma ham,  Foies Grase   with figs, and finished with some wonderful cheeses. There were of course a few glasses of wine drunk too.
